At Mother’s Journey, I am committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.

This Policy explains when and why I collect personal information about people who visit my website, how I use it, the conditions under which I may disclose it to others and how I keep it secure.

Who am I?

I am Leonie Bryan, my company is called Mother’s Journey, and I am an Independent Midwife, IBCLC and Tongue Tie Practitioner.

Clinical information & confidentiality

I strongly advise all my clients to register with their local hospital, so that any problems arising during pregnancy or birth that require hospital input can be managed without undue delay.

For clients who choose a smaller birth package (for example starting care at 34 weeks of pregnancy) it is essential that you access appropriate care prior to 34 weeks gestation, and you are prepared to share details of that care with me.

In some circumstances, if a problem arises during birth at home, I may record what is happening and verbalise my care to you. This is so I can focus 100% on providing you with the best possible care, whilst also maintaining an accurate record of events. Afterwards, this recording will be transcribed within 24hrs and form part of your clinical record. It will then be deleted.

Leonie Bryan respects your confidentiality, and I will not share information about you other than in the following circumstances:

When you give me personal information, I take steps to ensure that it’s treated securely. Non-sensitive details (your email address etc.) are transmitted normally over the Internet, and this can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while I strive to protect your personal information, I cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to me, and you do so at your own risk.

Once I receive your information, I make our best effort to ensure its security on my system.

Contact & communication with me

Users contacting with me through my website do so at their own discretion and provide any such personal details requested at their own risk. Your personal information is kept private and stored securely until a time it is no longer required or has no use.

Like many other websites, the Mother’s Journey website uses cookies. ‘Cookies’ are small pieces of information sent by an organisation to your computer and stored on your hard drive to allow that website to recognise you when you visit. They collect statistical data about your browsing actions and patterns and do not identify you as an individual. This helps me to improve my website and deliver a better more personalised service.

While all precautions have been undertaken to ensure only genuine downloads are available users are advised to verify their authenticity using third party anti-virus software or similar applications.

Social media policy & usage

To ensure myself and my business conduct themselves accordingly online and while I may have official profiles on social media platforms users are advised to verify authenticity of such profiles before engaging with, or sharing information with such profiles. I will never ask for user passwords or personal details on social media platforms. Users are advised to conduct themselves appropriately when engaging with me on social media. 

There may be instances where my website features social sharing buttons, which help share web content directly from web pages to the respective social media platforms. You use social sharing buttons at your own discretion and accept that doing so may publish content to your social media profile feed or page. 

CQC & accessing data

 I am regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as a Tongue Tie practitioner. This is the independent regulator of health and social care in England – as such the CQC may access care records and other personal data as part of their regulatory activity.
